This 14-day "Samantabhadra, Mahakasyapa, and the Ancient Tea Horse Road" pilgrimage is an epic exploration of Buddhist geography and ethnic culture across Southwest China. The itinerary ingeniously connects Mount Emei (Han Buddhism, Samantabhadra's site) and Jizu Mountain (Southern Buddhism link, Mahakasyapa's site), completing a perfect pilgrimage across sects and geographies.
The first half in Sichuan features the Golden Summit of Mt. Emei and the Leshan Giant Buddha. Then, follow the Ancient Tea Horse Road into Yunnan. You will be immersed in the Mosuo matriarchal society at Lugu Lake and explore the historical relics of the Nanzhao Buddhist Kingdom in Dali.
The climax is ascending Jizu Mountain to feel the spiritual power of the birthplace of Zen. The final segment goes deep into the border (Mangshi, Ruili) to admire majestic Theravada architecture like the Menghuan Golden Pagoda and experience the fusion of Dai culture and Southeast Asian flair.
